May 9, 2010 in Las Vegas, NV - Around 8 years ago, Steve received a 'Person of the Year' award from the company running the SX season, Feld Inc., at the Supercross Banquet. Fast forward to 2010 and he now owns the rights to the 'Lifetime Achievement' award given out to people who give many years of support and dedication to the SX Industry. Feld Inc., awarded him with a trophy and a very nice watch, but the SX industry awarded him with a standing ovation and kind words. "There is not a higher award that I would want," Steve said. "I can't tell you how awesome it is when the people you work with and invest in say that they appreciate you."
Steve had no idea he was getting this award until the announcer mentioned that this man, who gives so much of his time and talents to the industry, also has officiated a lot of weddings for people in the crowd. He said he was so shocked that he couldn't even come up with anything funny to say. "I am so blessed that the Creator has put me in the middle of your lives. When you're banged up, I'm banged up. I love you all and appreciate this award very much," Steve said and holding back a few tears.
"Seeing young men through good and bad times, applauding them, investing in them and their families - so many times I ask God, 'Why am i here?' and this award says it all to me. I am consistently asking God if this is where He wants me to be and this was a great validation for me.
Steve would like to thank everyone for the support that is provided throughout the year. He is only able to be at races when you financially support him - so thanks to all those who have given to his ministry. Steve's financial situation is somewhat like a rollercoaster ride. Since there are very few folks who give monetarily on a regular basis, we are constantly out there with you asking for donations.
